All information below pertains to the 2024 virtual conference only. Updated information including dates and registration fees for Summer Salon 2025 will be posted after the Albuquerque conference. Please check back for updates in March 2025.
SWPACA is pleased to offer an annual Summer Salon in addition to our annual in-person conference that meets in Albuquerque each February. Started in 2023, this fully virtual summer conference exists to offer continued opportunity for scholarly conversations and connections, as well as to meet the needs of a wide array of scholars. Both new and experienced conference-goers are welcome. For information about our annual in-person conference, visit the Albuquerque Conference page.
Regular Registration through June 1, 2024
Please be aware that this is a fully virtual conference that takes place in Mountain time, following the time zone of SWPACA’s adoptive home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. All presentations take place live and in real time.
All conference attendees, whether presenting or not, are expected to register for the conference. Please note, if you plan on presenting, you should register after you find out that your proposed presentation has been accepted. Only fully registered participants will receive event links.

How is my registration fee used?
SWPACA is an independent non-profit organization; we are neither associated with nor supported by any institution or organization. All PCAs in the US (including Nationals) are independent of one another. Our executive team, area chairs, and awards judges are all volunteers and do not receive any compensation for their work. Your registration fee supports the year-round work of SWPACA in advocating for and supporting the study of popular culture, including hosting two annual conferences (one in-person and one online) and producing an open-source, peer-reviewed journal, Dialogue: The Interdisciplinary Journal of Popular Culture and Pedagogy.
